February Planning 20

February Planning

February is all about Numbers and 5 Senses. We will playfully introduce numbers, counting & early math skills to the munchkins by preparing fun activities such as: number hunts, singing counting songs, counting games, run around numbers, tracing numbers, play dough number stamping and of course we will be continuing to count & point out numbers in everyday conversations, routines and walks.

Our five senses allow us to enjoy the world around us—the taste of our food, the sound of music, the beauty of a sunrise, the softness of a cat’s fur, and the fragrance of a flower. Children may recognize the importance of their senses, but they don’t often focus on them individually. For the next weeks we will prepare games, activities, arts and crafts, and resources to help your munchkin learn about each of the five senses. They will experiment with sound by making instruments, guess what’s inside a “feely” bag by using touch, investigate to find out why they can taste different flavours, and much more.

Resources to support learning at home are:

Our song of the month is:
Five little monkeys Five little monkeys [Hold up five fingers.]
jumping on the bed. [Jump up and down.]
One fell off [Hold up one finger and then roll your hand down towards the floor.]
and bumped his head. [Tap your head with your fist.]
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said, [Put your pinky to your mouth and thumb to your ear like a telephone.]
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!” [Put one hand on your hip and wag your index finger.]

Four little monkeys [Hold up four fingers.]
jumping on the bed.
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

Three little monkeys [Hold up three fingers.] jumping on the bed.
One fell off and bumped her head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

Two little monkeys [Hold up two fingers.]
jumping on the bed.
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

One little monkey [Hold up one finger.]
jumping on the bed. She fell off and bumped her head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”
