December Planning 18

December Planning

Tis the season to be jolly….fa la la la la la la la la….. Christmas is our favourite time of the year. What’s not to love?! We are embracing this month’s theme as we explore family traditions together. It’s such an exciting time of the year and your munchkin will learn & share those first early years Christmas family traditions which brings about so many opportunities for baking, art, decorating and learning about giving to others!
Each day we are opening one Christmas book and we are sure that the daily opening of our book advent calendar is going to be a huge success as we use days of the week and numbers to teach early numeracy. We already headed to the local library to hunt for Christmas books that we started sharing during circle time. If you have any Christmas books or stories your munchkin enjoys and you are happy to share please bring them along for the day. Our Christmas bells will come out at least once a day for a little bit of a festive jingle. Just like last year we will sing Christmas songs both in English and German.
We are also planning for your munchkins to make home made presents but enough said as otherwise it won’t be a surprise anymore…psssttt….Ho ho ho!

Resources to support learning at home for the month are:

Literacy resource of the month:
Ten Gingerbread Men” by Ruth Galloway

Our song of the month is:
Santa Claus is coming to town
You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He’s making a list And checking it twice
Gonna find out Who’s naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you’re sleeping
He knows when you’re awake
He knows if you’ve been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus is coming to town.
